Short description
Dr. Daniel Ghercă is a Research Scientist (CS) at the National Institute for Research and Development in Technical Physics – IFT Iași (INCDFT), within the Research Department for Magnetic Materials and Devices (MDM). Through his contributions in the field of magnetic nanomaterials science, he aims to develop ambitious projects that provide efficient solutions to emerging challenges in the energy and environmental sectors. He graduated from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, Faculty of Chemistry, with a specialization in Physical Chemistry. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry (2013) with the distinction “Magna Cum Laude” and was awarded the DOC-Paideia Excellence Diploma for his doctoral thesis. His scientific exploration and research activities are mainly focused on the development and implementation of innovative methods and approaches in his field of expertise, which includes the design and synthesis of magnetic nanomaterials and nanoarchitectures for biomedical applications as well as magneto-electro-photo-catalytic applications, with a special emphasis on surface chemical reaction dynamics for overall water photolysis aimed at green energy generation. The intelligibility and beauty of nature, together with curiosity, enthusiasm, perseverance, and courage, along with education, academic training, and postdoctoral development, represent the main pillars upon which Dr. Daniel Ghercă has built his vocation as a researcher. In addition to his research activity, Dr. Ghercă is also actively involved in supporting STEAM programs, directly promoting students’ and young people’s engagement with science through various non-formal educational activities involving interactive scientific experiments. These activities offer students and young participants the opportunity to explore concepts in science and technology in a hands-on and engaging manner.
