Timothy D. Walker is an American teacher living in Espoo, Finland and the author of “Teach Like Finland: 33 Simple Strategies for Joyful Classrooms” (W.W. Norton, 2017) and the co-author of a forthcoming book, with Finnish scholar Pasi Sahlberg, about the importance of trust in education. He has written extensively about his experiences for The Atlantic, Educational Leadership, Education Week Teacher, and on his blog, Taught by Finland. Inspired by his work in Finnish schools, he speaks internationally about the importance of play, trust, and joy in education. His book, Teach Like Finland, has been translated into 10 languages, including Chinese, Catalan, and Romanian. In 2018, he started an educational company (Taught by Finland) to help others learn about the Finnish school system.
